Trendy Vegan

Trendy Vegan is a vegan restaurant serving an eclectic mix of options from salads to smoothies to Japanese food. There is one location on Richmond Avenue in a strip mall with plenty of shopping and activities nearby. It’s also minutes from downtown Houston. Parking was difficult as there are only a few spaces assigned to each business unless you park at the opposite end of the strip mall and walk. Inside, there is plenty of seating and the vibe is actually very comforting. You can see the interior could use a little work, but it’s charming in its own way. We were seated immediately and given waters while we perused the menu.

The Food

We ordered the veggie boa for an appetizer. It comes with two boa buns with a delicious spinach filling. I would definitely order these again! For entrees, we decided to order the General Tso’s Tofu and the Lo Mein noodles and do more of a family style dinner. Let me tell you, the entree portions are large. Some of both entrees ended up in a box to take home. I would not describe the Lo Mien noodles as traditional since garlic was at the forefront of the flavor profile. We both love garlic and would definitely order this again, but if you don’t enjoy garlic I would suggest going with a different entree. The General Tso’s Tofu is also not what I would call traditional, but it was so good! The sauce was thick and coated the tofu beautifully. Along with the tofu, there are vegetables also coated in the sauce to add a little texture with the tofu. Overall, this was a good experience. Is it the most amazing vegan restaurant I’ve ever been to? No. Would I be utterly satisfied after a meal here? Yes.
