Meow Wolf
Meow Wolf is an immersive art installation with so much to discover and explore. We have been to almost all of their other locations, but we were so excited to explore one closer to home. You walk through different rooms, each with its own theme and artwork, where you can leisurely enjoy and interact with the art or you can search for clues to help solve the mystery of the missing radio station employees. Each Meow Wolf location has a different mystery to solve and different art installations by local artists so each location is its own unique experience.
Planning Your Visit
Tickets can be purchased on their website for specific arrival times or there is a VIP option that allows you to arrive anytime. The Houston location is right across the street from St. Arnold Brewing in the warehouse district. Parking in the lot does cost $5/hour or there is street parking around the block if you don’t mind walking in the Texas heat. There is no app to download to pay for parking. Instead, there are kiosks inside the building for you to pay as you leave. All you need is your license plate number.
The building is air conditioned and ADA accessible with ramps and elevators throughout the building. You will definitely get your steps in during your visit so wear comfortable shoes! For food/drink there is a bar/restaurant in the attraction as well as a smoothie stand. There is also a taco restaurant located just outside of the attraction. This location is also minutes from Downtown Houston making it a great location to see the art and then go out for dinner (which is what we did).
During Your Visit
We explored the whole venue (we think) in a little over an hour, but the time it takes depends on you so I would plan at least a couple of hours for your experience (longer if the venue is busy or if you are taking children). Benches and seating are scattered throughout the exhibits for you to rest or just sit and enjoy the art (and/or let your kids explore). Make sure you explore every door you see and interact with everything to enjoy the full experience. To avoid spoilers, I will leave it at that. When you are done exploring, there is a gift shop which I highly recommend visiting before you leave. They have items for people of all ages and all interests as well as Meow Wolf logo merch. Don’t forget to pay for your parking on the way out or you won’t be able to leave the parking lot!
Other Notes
We highly recommend you check this venue out! They have other locations around the country as well including; Santa Fe, Denver, Las Vegas and Dallas with Los Angeles and New York City locations in the works. We have been to all of them except Santa Fe (which we are doing this fall) and the Houston location is by far my favorite. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon to get out of the Texas heat and see some amazing art by local Houston artists. Let me know below if you’ve been to Meow Wolf - Houston and what you thought.
Until Next Time,
Happy Exploring
