Creamy Rustic Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are an ultimate comfort food and one of the most versatile side dishes you can imagine. We have perfected our mashed potatoes and I want to share our super easy recipe with you. The ingredient list can be easily modified to suit your volume and taste needs. The recipe below makes about 4-6 servings depending on your serving size.

Ingredients

4 large potatoes - washed and cubed

½ cup heavy cream

4 tbsp butter

salt to taste

water

Instructions

  1. Place your cubed potatoes in a pot and fill with enough water to just cover the potatoes. Place the pot on high heat and bring to a boil. Don’t forget to salt your water!

  2. Once boiling, allow the potatoes to cook for 10 minutes or until fork tender.

  3. Drain the potatoes and place back in the pot. Add your cream and butter.

  4. Use a masher to mash the potatoes with the butter and cream to your desired consistency. Use a spoon to give it one last mix to ensure everything is incorporated.

  5. Add salt to taste and serve.

Notes:

  • For a less rustic potato, peel your potatoes before cubing them and then use a hand mixer or blender for a smoother potato.

  • Add jar-lic (or fresh minced garlic) to taste for a garlic mash instead.

  • Leftovers can be frozen - they will be a little wet once thawed, but a quick mix after heating usually resolves that.
