Red Brick Tavern
Red Brick Tavern is a restaurant and bar located in downtown Conroe advertising upscale comfort food and local craft beer. The ambiance is reminiscent of a dive bar in the absolute best way. The overall size of the restaurant is on the small side so not ideal for large groups, but we met my parents there for dinner and sat comfortably at a table together. The bar is located in the back with about a dozen stools and a few high-rise tables. There is a stage next to the entrance where live music is performed nightly. Our waitress told us the music usually starts about two hours prior to closing. Now, let’s get into the food.
What We Ordered
We ordered the skillet cornbread as an appetizer, but let me tell you, I couldn’t easily made a meal out of that. It comes to your table still in the skillet with a huge dollop of honey cinnamon butter on top. I highly recommend you spread that butter all over the top of the cornbread prior to eating. The cornbread is moist (I hate that word) with hatch green chilis mixed in, but it’s not spicy at all. The chilis left more of an aftertaste for me than becoming the dominant flavor. Since this location has a brick pizza oven, we ordered the Greek Pizza for our entree. Brick oven pizza just slaps and this was no exception. The crust was beautifully marbled on the bottom and tasted amazing. They do offer cauliflower crust for those that prefer it.
Other Notes
Since this location is downtown Conroe, parking can be a hurdle depending on when you are trying to go so plan accordingly. The restrooms were immaculate. Daily breakfast and a gospel brunch on Sundays are also available at this location. We highly recommend you try Red Brick Tavern when you’re in Conroe. It’s so worth it!
Until Next Time,
Happy Eating
